Projects » Dental Care in Argentina
The Sonrisa dental clinics supported by the LATA Foundation have provided over 40,000 treatments to more than 5,000 children over the last couple of years.
Versión en Espaňol: Clinica Dental en Argentina
The clinics are run by Todos Juntos Children’s Trust, a charity registered in the UK and in Argentina.
State run clinics in Argentina simply remove rotten teeth but Todos Juntos provides root canals and dental care education to save and protect the children's teeth for the future. It can easily take six months of dental care to fix the decay as many children arrive with serious dental problems. The clinics are very popular and well attended by children of all ages living in the city's slums.

Further information
The LATA Foundation donation of £2030 in 2011, raised via our summer raffle in conjunction with Aerolineas Argentinas and the Argentine Embassy, accounts for around 10% of their income. It just goes to show that it does not take much to make a dramatic impact and help to transform lives in even relatively sophisticated countries like Argentina.
Case Study: Marco and Paola

In February 15 year old Marco arrived at Sonrisa with his 14 year old sister Paola. Both teenagers suffered from serious and painful tooth decay and heard about the work of Todos Juntos from neighbours in the Hidalgo slum where they live. It was the first time that either of them had visited a dentist. Neither could eat properly and both had suffered for years. Had they not been treated they would today most probably both be missing most of their teeth.

The LATA Foundation is grateful to the Embassy of Argentina for their support for the raffle and hosting the draw, to Aerolineas Argentinas for their help in providing the flights and arranging the raffle, to Branding Latin America for sourcing the accommodation and ground arrangements and to all providers for their support.
We would like to thank all those who sold tickets throughout the summer in support of the dental clinics and we are particularly grateful to all those who entered the draw.
