The Sabor del Sol (Taste of the Sun) is a micobusiness benefiting a cooperative of eight indigenous women which is overseen by the Konojel Community Center in the village of San Marcos on the shores of Lake Atitlan, Guatemala. The project uses new solar technology in the form of a solar dehydrator and solar oven which has been loaned to the project to produce healthy dried fruit snacks, sundried tomatoes and granola with seeds roasted in the solar oven.  The co-op has a very small shop at the restaurant where they can sell their dehydrated goods and seeds and, with our help, have opened a tourist cafe to fund the daily lunch programme. Our continued support will provide English lessons to the community and expand their cafe service with the ultimate aim of becoming self-sustainable.
